Malaga's Cathedral, a magnificent architectural gem, stands as a testament to the Renaissance tradition, with its construction spanning from 1528 to 1782. Its rich history and striking design continue to captivate visitors.
Notably, the north tower of the Cathedral ranks as the second-highest structure in all of Andalusia, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and beyond. On the southern side, the tower remains an intriguing testament to the building's history, as it was never completed.
The interior of the Cathedral is as awe-inspiring as its exterior. The remarkable architecture and intricate details of the building make it a true work of art. Inside, visitors will discover a vast collection of religious art, including the renowned painting "The Beheading of Saint Paul" by Enrique Simonet.
Surrounding the Cathedral is a charming small garden, open to the public free of charge. This peaceful oasis provides a tranquil escape and is well worth exploring.
To enter the Cathedral and experience its historical and artistic treasures, tickets can be conveniently purchased at the entrance. For those seeking a unique perspective, a rooftop tour of the Cathedral is available, and tickets can be acquired at the Episcopal palace located at the front of the Cathedral. This tour offers a rare opportunity to appreciate the architectural grandeur of the Cathedral up close while taking in panoramic views of Malaga.
