Ardales is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. It is located in the valley of the Guadalhorce river, at the foot of the Sierra de las Nieves. It is known for its natural beauty and its historical and cultural attractions, including the Caminito del Rey, a hiking and cycling path along the cliffs of a narrow gorge, and the Ardales Lakes, a group of reservoirs in the surrounding mountains. The town has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Neolithic period. It was an important center of the Roman Empire and later a strategic point in the Muslim conquest of the Iberian Peninsula. Today, Ardales is a popular destination for tourists and hikers, and it is also known for its olive oil, wine, and honey production.
