Fuengirola is one of the most popular resorts on the Costa del Sol, offering a mix of beaches, local neighbourhoods, and a lively town centre. It’s a destination that suits all types of visitors, from families to couples and retirees, with each area of the resort offering something slightly different.
Fuengirola has a diverse feel depending on where you stay.
The coastline stretches for several kilometres, with a long, flat promenade linking all areas of the resort. The beaches are well maintained and include Carvajal, Torreblanca, Los Boliches, and Playa Fuengirola, all offering good facilities and easy access. Along the seafront you’ll find plenty of chiringuitos (beach restaurants), many serving local dishes such as sardines and paella.
The town centre is easy to explore on foot, with Plaza de la Constitución and Plaza de los Chinorros acting as good starting points. The area around Plaza Chinorros is particularly well known for its restaurants, while nearby streets such as Fish Alley and the surrounding squares are all within a short walk of the beach.
Fuengirola has a huge choice of places to eat, from seafront chiringuitos to traditional tapas bars and international restaurants. Areas such as Fish Alley and Plaza Chinorros are especially popular for dining. Whether you’re looking for local dishes like sardines and paella or international options including Indian, Italian, and Chinese, there’s something for everyone. Fuengirola is one of the easiest resorts to get around on the Costa del Sol. It sits on the C1 train line, connecting directly to Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Málaga. The bus station is centrally located, with regular services to places like Mijas Pueblo and Marbella.
Parking in the centre is mostly paid, but free parking can usually be found near the feria ground and surrounding areas if you don’t mind a short walk (except on market days or during the fair).
