San Pedro is one of the hidden gems on the Costa del Sol. It's situated around 12 kilometres south of Marbella. It is an excellent holiday resort with some of the best sandy beaches on the Costa del Sol. The promenade stretches to the far side of Marbella, the boulevard is simply fantastic and San Pedro is one of the few towns on the Costa del Sol to have kept it's old town.

The Boulevard in San Pedro is situated just off the A7 junction 172. The Boulevard was opened in 2014 and it was made possible when the underpass was built for the A7. In fact the Boulevard is partly built on top of it. Parking is good and its easy to drive to. So what about it. It has a 3 kilometre cycle track, 6 playgrounds all unique, an open air theatre, gardens, a few cafe bars and a 300 metre footbridge named sensation of the sea. The Boulevard is situated in between the Promenade and the old town making it a great starting point when visiting San Pedro.
The promenade is situated 5 minutes walk from the Boulevard just off the A7 exit 172. It has a few bars and restaurants spaced apart so there is no overcrowding. The Promenade joins up with it's Marbella counterpart making it 12 kilometres in length. This is a great place to cycle rollerblade and walk. It's a perfect place to stroll.
When the Costa del Sol became a major tourist attraction many of the villages ripped down the old town to make way for hotels. San Pedro did not follow and still retains an old town. It's not a bad way to spend an afternoon walking down the narrow streets and looking in the local shops and historical building.

San Pedro is situated just west of Puerto Banus and Marbella but within close proximity. It’s a beautiful town and a lot quieter than both Puerto Banus and Marbella.
Puero Banus is situated west of Marbella but within walking distance. It was constructed in the 70's by Jose Banus. It has a reputation of being the playground for the rich and famous.
Avenida del Mar is situated in between La Alameda and Paseo Maritimo. It has got to be the most iconic avenue in Marbella showing off it's Salvador Dali sculptures.
The old town of Marbella is situated in the heart of Marbella and the Plaza de Los Naranjos is a fantastic place to start.(directions only below) Spend a few hours exploring the tiny streets and plaza's. So if you are visiting Marbella the old Quarter is a must.
Paseo Maritimo is situated along Marbella's sea front and beaches. The promenade has benefitted from an eleven million euro's upgrade in recent years. The promenade stretches from Puerto Bajadilla seven kilometres towards Puerto Banus.
La Alameda is a park situated next to the Avenida del Mar and across the road from the old quarter. The park dates back to the 18th century. It has reduced in size over the years to make way for buildings. It was reformed in 1930 into its current design.
Parque de la Represa is situated to the north of the town, close to the old town in Marbella. It is a narrow but long park. If walking from the main bus station it's a good idea to walk through the park. If you are driving there is plenty of parking around the park.
Iglesia Mayor de la Encarnacion is a church situated in the heart of the old town and is one of the places that makes the old quarter in Marbella so special.
The port is situated on the promenade opposite the Avenida del Mar. It May be not as glam as Puerto Banus but it's right in the centre of Marbella on the promenade.
The main market is situated around a kilometre from the front and is held every Monday.
There are two main tourist information centre's in Marbella. One in the old town and one on the promenade. (Directions only)
Mirador de Juanar is situated 20 kilometres north of Marbella behind the La Concha Mountain. At the end of the walk is a stunning view of Marbella.
The trainline does not extend to San Pedro, Marbella. The end of the line is Fuengirola
