Information on Arroyo de la Miel
The history of settlements in this region predates even the Roman era, but it wasn't until the 18th century that the area received its name. This nomenclature shift was prompted by the emergence of paper mills and sugar cane factories. Interestingly, the residue produced during the sugar cane processing made the local water sweet, leading to the christening of the town as Arroyo De La Miel, which translates to "Stream of Honey."
Arroyo De La Miel boasts a convenient railway station along the Malaga-Fuengirola line, facilitating easy access for both residents and visitors. Over time, it has become seamlessly integrated into Benalmadena, to the extent that distinguishing the precise boundary between Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo De La Miel has become a challenge.
One of the area's notable attractions, located behind the railway station, is the Teleférico, a cable car that carries passengers to the mountain's summit behind Benalmadena. This ride offers breathtaking panoramic views of the region and is a unique way to explore the area's scenic beauty.
In addition to the cable car experience, you'll discover numerous pedestrian zones and charming plazas, each brimming with a diverse selection of bars and restaurants. These areas offer a pleasant departure from the typical day spent on the beach, allowing you to delve into the rich cultural and culinary offerings of the locale
