Information on Plaza de la Constitucion

Directions Only

Plaza De La Constitucion, christened in May of 1841 by Fuengirola's first mayor, Antonio Garci'a Cortés, holds a unique historical significance. It was in this plaza that Fuengirola was officially recognized as separate from Mijas by Malaga. The square is enveloped by a delightful array of bars and cafes, with the Nuestra Senora del Rosario church at its heart, taking on a central role in the plaza's composition.

The Plaza De La Constitucion is more than just a geographical location; it's a vibrant focal point in the life of Fuengirola. Throughout the year, it hosts a variety of events that draw locals and tourists alike. During the Christmas season, the plaza transforms into a festive market, followed by the enchanting Three Kings tent. Easter sees the hosting of La Semana Santa church service, a momentous occasion in the local calendar.

New Year's Eve is a grand celebration in the plaza, but a personal favorite is the A Caballo equestrian event. Held around September every year. This captivating spectacle metamorphoses the plaza's center into a showcase for equestrian performances, encompassing dressage competitions, parades of horse-drawn carriages, live music, children's activities, and more.

However, even when there's no special event, Plaza De La Constitucion remains an inviting space. It's a wonderful spot to enjoy a drink or simply sit on a bench, savoring the ambiance as you watch the world go by.
