Castillo de Gibralfaro is a historic fortress that dominates Málaga's skyline from its hilltop position above the city. Originally built during the Moorish period and expanded in the 14th century by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada, the castle played a key defensive role in protecting the nearby Alcazaba and the city below. Today it is one of Málaga's most visited attractions, known as much for its incredible views as its historical significance.
The castle is located on Mount Gibralfaro overlooking Málaga city centre.
Address: Camino de Gibralfaro, 11, Málaga, Spain
Its elevated position provides unrivalled views across the city, port, and coastline.
Opening times vary throughout the year, Summer: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Winter: 09:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. it is advisable to check current opening hours before visiting. Entry 2.20 euro or

Limited parking is available near the castle itself, but spaces can fill quickly, especially during the summer months.
Many visitors choose to park in Málaga city centre and either walk up to the castle or take the Number 35 bus from Paseo del Parque, which stops directly outside the entrance.
One of the most popular ways to visit is via the pathway that begins near the Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso and the Alcazaba entrance on Calle Guillén Sotelo.
The route follows the castle walls and gradually climbs to the summit, with several viewpoints along the way.
The Number 35 bus departs from Paseo del Parque and travels directly to the castle entrance.
The castle can be reached by road via Camino de Gibralfaro, although parking near the summit is limited.
Many visitors combine the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro into a single day of sightseeing.
