Exploring the History and Beauty of Puente Nuevo, Ronda

The Puente Nuevo, the largest and most iconic bridge spanning Ronda's dramatic El Tajo Gorge, rises to an impressive height of 98 meters. Construction began in 1751 and took 42 years to complete, finally finishing in 1793. This enduring project is a testament to the remarkable engineering and craftsmanship of its time.

A symbol of Ronda’s architectural and historical legacy, the Puente Nuevo serves as a centerpiece of the town. Its design and location offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, drawing visitors from around the world.

For the best views and photo opportunities, head toward Plaza de María Auxiliadora. After crossing the bridge, take the first right onto Calle Tenorio, and follow the road to the end. From there, a pathway descends into the gorge, providing a stunning vantage point to capture the bridge in all its grandeur.
