Information on the Outdoor Market

1. Overview

The La Cala de Mijas Saturday market takes place every Saturday morning on the village fairground, usually from around 9:00am until early afternoon. It is one of the busiest markets on the Costa del Sol and becomes especially popular during the summer months.

2. Location & Access

The market is held on the fairground close to the centre of La Cala de Mijas, within walking distance of the beach, promenade, bars, and restaurants. The location is easy to reach on foot from most parts of the village.

3. What You’ll Find

The market includes a wide variety of stalls selling:

  • clothing and fashion
  • handbags and leather goods
  • souvenirs and gifts
  • fruit and vegetables
  • household items
  • accessories and beach products

The atmosphere is lively and busy, especially during peak holiday periods.

4. Parking

Parking can be more difficult on market days because the fairground itself is used for the market stalls. Many visitors park along the side roads near the fairground or use parking areas around the village centre before walking to the market.

Parking closest to the village centre often fills up early, particularly during summer and weekends. Some areas near the centre may also have informal parking attendants who help direct drivers into available spaces and usually expect a small tip.

5. Nearby Attractions

  • La Cala village centre
  • beachfront promenade
  • coastal boardwalk
  • bars and restaurants
  • La Cala beach

6. Tips for Visiting

  • Arrive early for easier parking and quieter browsing
  • Saturdays are usually the busiest day in the village
  • Bring cash, as not all stalls accept cards
  • Combine the visit with lunch or a walk along the promenade

7. Overall Experience

The Saturday market is one of the liveliest weekly attractions in La Cala de Mijas, combining shopping, local atmosphere, and a busy seaside setting. It’s a great place to experience the village at its busiest while exploring the nearby beach, promenade, cafés, and restaurants.
