There is plenty of parking in La Cala de Mijas and most of it is free or very cheap. Driving in La Cala de Mijas is easy if you just stay around the village centre.
The two parking places we have chosen consider driving skills, pay and free parking. We suggest that if you do street park be very careful and have a good look for parking meters and restrictions to avoid parking violations which can result in fines and tow always. The first parking place is the village centre. This is a great place to park. The cost is 1 euro for the day which is very cheap for the Costa del Sol but fills up quickly. If you are navigating with a hand held device then click the red icon on the map for directions. If you are using sat nav then enter destination as Boulevard de la Cala, La Cala de Mijas. Don't forget you can use your handheld device to find the car park if have forgotten where it is when you have finished exploring La Cala de Mijas.
Another great place to park is on the fair ground in La Cala de Mijas. The fair ground is super easy to drive to, free and is less than a minutes drive off the A7. The only problem parking here is the Saturday market and when the fair is in town. Stay clear of these days and it’s perfect. La Cala de Mijas has a very limited amount of hotels. But a huge amount of holiday lets. When choosing a holiday check the location and find one that suits your needs. La Cala de Mijas has expanded right back into the mountains and thats where many of the holiday rentals are. Personally is think accommodation inside the A7 and the village is the best place to look.
What to know before you go
There’s not much choice of hotels in La Cala de Mijas. Vik Gran and Hotel Carman are 2 of the hotels on offer by package holiday companies.
VIK Gran Hotel

Hotel Carman
Located in Mijas, Hotel Carmen is near the beach, within a 5-minute walk of Playa El Bombo and Playa de La Cala - El Torreón. This hotel is 12.4 mi (20 km) from Marbella Old Town and 15.8 mi (25.4 km) from La Carihuela.

General rules to street parking in the Costa Del Sol
A few years ago most parking in the Costa Del Sol was mostly free but that has now changed. There is still free parking available in most towns but you have to be careful. If you do get a parking ticket it can be paid at most ticket machines and you may get a 20% discount for prompt payment. If you are driving a hire car and get a ticket it will catch up with you which ever country you live in. Most towns have a free car park but finding them is not easy. Fairgrounds and bullrings tend to have the best free parking but thats not guaranteed. Below are 3 simple signs to watch out for when street parking but this is only a guide so be careful there are some rules that only local residents can know. The guide was correct at the time of publishing 2022 and is periodically checked so make sure it is still free if you park there, this website will not be held responsible for any parking violation's.
White lines
Parking spaces either with white painted bays or white lines generally means free parking. But read the third rule below.
Blue & green lines
Parking spaces either with blue or green painted bays or lines generally means it is paid parking with a time limit. There will be a pay meter near by again read the third rule below.

Yellow zig zag lines
Parking spaces with a yellow zig zag line means that there is a restriction to parking there and there will be a sign to explain. It can mean many things from disabled parking to only parking at certain times of the day to taxi's only. So find out the restriction before parking there. The yellow zig zag line can be on free or pay parking zones.
Attractions in La Cala de Mijas
The Village
La Cala has a modern village centre with ample parking, a supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants all around away from the beach. During the summer months the population swells but the village seems to deal with the increase ok. The Boardwalk
The boardwalk opened in 2016 and runs from La Cala to Calahonda. The start is on the beach next to the watch tower. There are plans to connect the boardwalk to Cabopina from Calahonda and from Cabopino to Marbella. Well worth a walk and there are bar's and restaurants along the way. The beach at La Cala de Mijas is over 2 kms long and its a good quality beach. The promenade next to the beach is very well maintained and has a pirate ship climbing frame for the kids. Getting around the Costa del Sol

The trainline does not extend to La Cala de Mijas and ends at Fuengirola.
