Playa La Cala is the main beach in La Cala de Mijas and one of the most popular family-friendly beaches on the Costa del Sol. The beach is backed by a long promenade and coastal boardwalk, with wide sandy areas, beachfront restaurants, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it popular with both visitors and locals throughout the year.
The beach is located directly in front of the village centre, within easy walking distance of shops, bars, restaurants, and nearby accommodation. The promenade and boardwalk connect different sections of the coastline, making it ideal for walking and cycling.

4. Parking
There are two main free parking areas commonly used when visiting La Cala de Mijas. The largest is the fairground parking area on the edge of the village, although much of this becomes unavailable on Saturdays during the weekly market or when local fairs and events are taking place.
Playa La Cala has a relaxed and traditional seaside atmosphere compared to some of the larger Costa del Sol resorts. The beach is popular with families due to the calm setting, flat promenade, and lack of busy roads directly along the seafront.

La Cala de Mijas has only a small number of hotels within the village itself, with most accommodation made up of apartments, holiday rentals, and villas spread out along the surrounding area.
