Built in 1900, the Mijas Bullring is a unique oval-shaped arena located in the La Muralla area, offering a glimpse into Spain’s historic bullfighting tradition. Unlike most bullrings, its unusual shape adds to its charm, making it a distinctive landmark in Mijas Pueblo.
Inside, you'll find features typical of traditional bullrings, including a chapel for matadors and an infirmary—reminders of the courage and spectacle that once unfolded here. The walls are adorned with ceramic plaques honoring legendary bullfighters such as Miguel Camarita, Palomo Linares, El Niño de la Capea, Ángel Teruel, and Paquirri. The bullring was once owned by renowned matador Antonio José Galán, who was deeply connected to the sport until his passing in 2001.
While bullfighting is no longer held here, the arena now serves as a museum dedicated to the history and culture of the tradition, offering visitors an insightful look into its past. Whether you're interested in Spanish heritage or simply want to explore one of Mijas' historic sites, the Mijas Bullring is a fascinating stop.
